To cancel Notion, open Settings from the left sidebar, click Billing, select Change plan, choose the Free plan, click Continue, and confirm the downgrade. Notion does not have a traditional cancel button - you downgrade to the free tier instead. This process is only available on the web at notion.so, not through the mobile apps. The Notion desktop and mobile apps do not have billing settings at all. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, you must cancel through Apple's subscription management in iOS Settings. Notion's pricing sits at $10/month or $96/year for the Plus plan, with a 7-day free trial for new users. The free plan is genuinely generous - it includes unlimited pages and blocks for individual use, which is enough for most personal note-taking and knowledge management needs. The paid plans add unlimited file uploads, 30-day version history, and guest collaborator access.

Enterprise pricing is custom and requires contacting Notion sales. For individual users, the Free plan covers unlimited pages and blocks - the main limitation is the 5 MB file upload cap and 7-day version history.

What Happens After You Cancel Notion?

All your pages, databases, and content remain intact after downgrading to the free plan. Notion does not delete anything. Your workspace continues to function with a few limitations: file uploads are capped at 5 MB per file (previously unlimited on paid plans), version history is limited to 7 days (instead of 30 or 90 days), and guest collaborator invitations become restricted. If your workspace exceeds the free plan's block limit for team spaces, you will need to archive or remove some content, but individual pages and blocks are unlimited. Existing files larger than 5 MB that were uploaded during your paid plan remain accessible - the cap only applies to new uploads. Your integrations and API connections continue to work on the free plan.

Notion Refund Policy

Notion offers a full refund within 3 days of a monthly charge and within 30 days of an annual charge. This is unusually generous compared to most SaaS products. To request a refund, email team@makenotion.com or use the in-app help button and mention your billing date and workspace name. Refunds are processed to the original payment method and typically appear within 5-10 business days. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, you must request the refund through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com - Notion cannot process refunds for App Store purchases. The refund window applies per billing cycle, so if you forgot to cancel before an annual renewal, you have 30 days to request a full refund.

Notion in India - Key Notes

Notion is popular among Indian startups, students, and freelancers. Indian pricing is approximately ₹840/month for Plus when paying by credit or debit card. If you subscribed through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store in India, you may see slightly different pricing due to app store conversion rates. Notion's free plan is particularly attractive for Indian users since it offers unlimited pages and blocks for individual use at no cost. Students with a .edu or equivalent institutional email can get the Plus plan free through Notion for Education - check notion.so/education to apply. UPI autopay users should verify the mandate is cancelled after downgrading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I lose my pages if I cancel Notion?

No. All your pages, databases, templates, and content remain intact after downgrading to the free plan. Notion does not delete any data when you cancel. Your workspace continues to function with some feature limitations like smaller file upload caps and shorter version history. Existing content and files uploaded during your paid period stay accessible.

Can I get a refund from Notion?

Yes. Notion offers a full refund within 3 days of a monthly charge and within 30 days of an annual charge. Email team@makenotion.com with your workspace name and billing details to request one. This policy is per billing cycle, so even accidental annual renewals can be refunded if you act within 30 days. Apple App Store subscribers must request refunds through Apple directly.

Why can I not find the cancel button in the Notion app?

Notion's mobile and desktop apps do not include billing settings. You can only manage your subscription through the web browser at notion.so. Go to Settings - Billing - Change plan - select Free to downgrade. If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, the web billing page will not show a cancel option either - you must cancel through iPhone Settings - Subscriptions instead.

Is Notion free plan enough for personal use?

For most individual users, yes. The free plan includes unlimited pages and blocks, which covers note-taking, journaling, task management, and personal knowledge bases. The main limitations are the 5 MB file upload cap (no large PDFs or videos), 7-day version history (instead of 30 days), and limited guest invitations. If you primarily use Notion for text-based notes and databases, the free plan handles it without issues.

Can students get Notion for free?

Yes. Notion offers the Plus plan free to students and educators through Notion for Education. You need to sign up with a valid .edu or institutional email address at notion.so/education. The student plan includes all Plus features - unlimited file uploads, 30-day version history, and unlimited guests. This is one of the better student deals in the productivity software space and eliminates the need to pay for a subscription while studying.
